Title: Music + DIY: Craft your own tools and charm your audience

Speakers: Moldover + Juan Pablo Carrascal
 
Abstract
Moldover will share the inspirations and processes behind the creation of his bespoke electronic instruments. From augmented guitars, to playable album packaging and multiplayer “jamboxes”, he’ll show how he transforms unconventional hardware ideas into to polished products. 
 
Juan Pablo Carrascal will share examples of mobile web applications that allow involving the audience in music events. He will also share his experience building and testing these applications, and will share some of these tools for others to use.
 
Bio
Moldover is a professional musician, artist, and inventor of musical instruments. He is best known for coining the term controllerism and supporting its adoption with a diverse body of work including live performances, eclectic compositions, educational videos, and the creation of totally new kinds of electronic instruments. As an innovator, educator, and devout lover of all things creative, Moldover’s goal is to share inspiration and to bridge the gap between traditional musicianship and modern music cultures.
 
Juan Pablo Carrascal is a researcher, musician and maker. He splits his time between working for Microsoft as a UX researcher and composing and performing with his band Spacebarman (www.spacebarman.com).
