The Equality and Diversity Unit has the following remit:​ to draw up and monitor the Equality Plan and coordinate its implementation; to advise the various UPF bodies, services and academic and administrative units on gender equality matters; to create and promote measures that guarantee the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people; and to provide support services for people affected by situations of gender-based violence, LGTBI-phobia and sexual harassment.

The Unit also coordinates the drafting of university policies promoting inclusion and preventing discrimination in all activities and areas of the University, as well as all the activities stemming from the Inclusion Plan. In addition, the Unit coordinates and runs the services that help students with special needs and coordinates and manages the Psychological Advice Service and the Student Mediation Service​​.
