The event, presented by GRETA's coordinator, Maria Rodó-Zárate, started with a lecture on "Rethinking women’s public safety as care in urban spaces of hyperunsafety" by Professor Rachel Pain. She presented the insightful results of her work on public urban parks as spaces of unsafety.

Her lecture was then discussed by three experts on the topic. Sara Ortiz Escalante, from Col·lectiu Punt 6, talked about her work as part of this feminist urban spaces cooperative and asked Prof. Pain about the benefits of Participatory Action Research, an approach that both of them have widely used for research on the topic. Later, Samantha Joeck contributed to the discussion through her expertise on gendered interactions in public spaces, and pointed out the parallelisms existing between Pain's research and her own investigation, carried out in Medellín, Colombia. Geanina Zagal brought up the issue of neoliberalism and gentrification in the debate. She discussed the implications of this system's dynamics when it comes to safety in public spaces, and asked Prof. Pain to give her insights on the topic.

The event concluded with a space for networking and gathering among speakers and attendees.

Thanks to everyone who attended the event for supporting GRETA.
