The second edition of the +RAIN International Festival of Film and Artificial Intelligence, co-organized by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and Sónar, will kick off on Tuesday, 11 June. The opening ceremony, at which the 10 finalist films of the festival will be screened in the presence of their creators, will take place on Tuesday at 4 pm at the MediaComplex Auditorium, annexed to the Poblenou campus (C/Roc Boronat, 138).

Before the screening of the films, the event will begin with the institutional welcome by the UPF rector, Laia de Nadal, followed by the interventions of Sónar co-founder, Ricard Robles, and the people who make up the management team of the +RAIN Film Festival: Coloma Ballester, Jordi Balló, Anna Giralt and Frederic Guerrero. The award-winning films will be announced on Wednesday, 12 June in the afternoon, the day after the presentation of the festival.

The festival will be held at the Poblenou campus on 11 and 12 and at Sónar+D, on 13 and 14 June

The second edition of +RAIN will begin at 9 am on Tuesday, 11 June, before the opening ceremony that will take place in the afternoon, and will run until Friday, 14 June. The first two days (11 and 12) it will be held on the UPF Poblenou campus and the following two (13 and 14) at Sónar+D (Fira de Montjuïc).  This year, much of the first two days’ programming of +RAIN on the Poblenou campus will be streamed live on the UPF website. It will also involve the collaboration of Xavier Mitjana, a communicator on AI, who will record interviews with +RAIN guests for the different programmes on his YouTube channel I.A en acción (AI in action) and his podcast Conversaciones sobre IA (Conversations around AI).

This year, the festival will focus on research, aesthetic and narrative experimentation, the integration of generative AI in audiovisual and artistic creation, and transfer geared towards the emergence of new views, new themes, styles and practices that will mark the development of AI-assisted audiovisuals.

Places are still available for the +RAINNOVA space on the second day of the festival on the Poblenou campus

Currently there are only places available for the +RAINNOVA space on the second day of the festival (Wednesday, 12 June), which can be reserved here.
