Manifest - UPF aims to become a leading global advocate of Planetary Wellbeing

UPF is launching an ambitious international programme to generate and transmit new knowledge about the concept of Planetary Wellbeing.

In the last century, humanity has made great strides in improving societal wellbeing. However, this progress has come at a cost: an unprecedented rate of exploitation of natural resources and unacceptable inequalities in health and wealth.

The most recent studies on the evolution of climate change and the degradation of environmental resources show that we are facing a global emergency requiring a variety of transformative actions.

UPF has decided to focus its energy on responding to this situation, which poses challenges in the University's various fields of knowledge and education: from health, biology, politics and economics to the humanities, engineering, law and communication.

To this end, UPF is launching a university-wide inter- and transdisciplinary project. It expects to find the necessary support to offer solutions to governments, companies and institutions around the world.

This project is also linked to the more general framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It is a firm commitment by UPF to assume its responsibility as a centre of international excellence in research and teaching in relation to these planetary goals.
